Natural rubber is a key raw material in tire production. Within the automotive industry, an increasing number of companies are actively taking responsibility for their supply chains, emphasizing the use of responsibly sourced natural rubber. As a researcher in agriculture, my aim is to develop a sustainability index for assessing the practices within natural rubber plantations in major production countries. This index will help companies evaluate the sustainability performance of their suppliers.
All datasets were separately collected from FAOSTAT.
Data were analyzed in Excel and visualized in Tableau.
According to the definition of sustainability in agriculture, this sustainability index contains four indicators: Fertilizer usage, Pesticide usage, CO2 equivalent emission and Employment working hour. By choosing the country you are interested in, figures on the bottom will show the performance of each indicator as well as the comparison with average (grey line).
An example of choosing 'Vietnam’ to have a look at its practice performance in natural rubber production.
